Things to Consider When Buying a Coop
Consider Chicken Breeds: For those keeping larger chicken breeds, it’s recommended that you select a more spacious coop, ensuring they have ample room for comfortable living. If your flock consists of smaller chickens, you might have the flexibility to accommodate a few more. Prior to settling on a 7×12 chicken coop, make sure your hens will have plenty of space to thrive.
Roosting Area: It’s crucial to ensure your coop offers enough roosting space. Roosting is an integral part of a chicken’s routine, providing them with a sense of security and comfort.
Outdoor Enclosure: Incorporating an outdoor run is essential for a well-rounded chicken coop setup. Chickens greatly benefit from the opportunity to explore the outdoors, engaging in natural behaviors such as pecking, dust bathing, and scratching. It’s imperative to make certain that your run is sturdy enough to ward off potential predator threats like foxes and stray dogs.
Predator Protection: How well are your chickens shielded from potential predators? Are your coop doors designed to be predator-proof, and are the walls sturdy enough to deter crafty creatures? Investing in a 7×12 chicken coop made from high-quality materials not only guarantees the safety of your chickens but also provides a barrier against potential threats.
