How Many Chickens Can Fit in a 3×4 Chicken Coop?
As a general rule, you can comfortably fit about 4-6 chickens in a 3×4 coop. If you want to expand your flock, then consider sizing up to a 4×4 coop or even larger. It is important that your chickens are not squeezed or short on space. A 3×4 chicken coop is a good chicken coop for 4 chickens.
Things to Consider When Buying a Coop
Breed of Chickens– What breed of chickens do you have? If you own a breed that is larger than the standard breed, like Brahmas for example, then you may want to consider sizing up a coop or getting fewer chickens.
Roosting Space- Is there space in the coop for your chickens to roost? Make sure there is enough roosting space and nesting boxes for your hens to comfortably do their thing.
Outdoor Run– Don’t underestimate the importance of an outdoor run area. Your chickens need room to run around and scratch in the dirt. There are many coop options with a run attached and you can also have a separate area for your hens to get outside as well.
Predator Protection– How sturdy is your coop? Be sure the 3×4 chicken coop you choose is made from quality materials and is sturdy enough to prevent any type of predator from breaking in.
